Planning
SAP Integrated Business Planning and PPDS enable integrated demand and supply management. With them, you will gain full control over planning processes and increase your organization's resilience.
Integrated planning and forecasting
SAP Integrated Business Planning is a cloud-based solution that delivers comprehensive, end-to-end demand and supply planning across the entire supply chain and all planning horizons.
Key capabilities of SAP IBP:
- Sales and Operations Planning. An integrated, unified approach to operational and financial planning at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
- Demand Planning. Creation of reliable demand forecasts using proven statistical models, including AI-driven approaches.
- Supply Planning. Development of accurate supply plans (production, purchasing, transfers) to address current and future demand, ensure required safety stock levels, and optimize manufacturing capacity utilization.
- Inventory Planning and Optimization. Determination of optimal inventory levels across the supply chain to balance risk and capital investment while ensuring the expected level of customer service.
Your benefits
- Transparency in planning. Standardized information flows in the S&OP process, with seamless integration of operational and financial planning.
- Scenario analysis. Ability to build and compare multiple demand–supply scenarios and choose the most advantageous option through WHAT-IF simulations.
- Reliable forecasts. Greater accuracy and credibility of sales forecasts, supporting financial planning and budgeting.
- Operational excellence. Higher service levels, lower inventory, and better decisions on transport, procurement of raw materials, and component purchasing.
Detailed planning
and scheduling
SAP Manufacturing Planning & Scheduling is a solution designed for detailed production planning and scheduling, built on the well-established PPDS module. MP&S focuses on optimizing the use of manufacturing resources and continuously monitoring operations, enabling quick responses to emerging challenges.
Key capabilities of SAP Manufacturing Planning & Scheduling:
- Constraint-based planning. Considers both material availability and production capacity (finite capacity planning, finite material availability planning).
- Operational plan optimization. Uses dedicated heuristic and optimization algorithms tailored to the specific requirements of each planning process.
- Production queue optimization. Schedules production based on criteria such as minimizing changeover times, reducing manufacturing costs, or preventing delays relative to demand.
- Real-time feedback. Integration with execution systems (SAP S/4HANA, SAP DM, or others) provides visibility into current production status, enabling immediate plan and schedule adjustments.
- Continuous planner support. Ongoing monitoring with alert-based tools allows planners to focus on critical issues and address unexpected events quickly.
Your benefits
- Optimal planning and scheduling. Ensures on-time fulfillment of customer demand while minimizing changeovers, maximizing resource utilization, and reducing total manufacturing costs.
- Operational excellence. Improves customer service, reduces inventory, and accelerates the resolution of daily planning challenges.
- High accuracy. Enables detailed operational plans down to individual operations on a continuous timeline.
- Intuitive visualization. A combined tabular and graphical interface (e.g., Gantt charts) makes order scheduling more intuitive and effective.
